We know dental health questions can feel personal. Your private questions are visible only to you, the dentist who answers them, and a small Teethly admin team for moderation and support purposes — never to other patients, and never displayed in the public community feed. We don't sell your information. Dentists on Teethly are expected to treat everything you share as confidential, the same way they would in their own office.
This Privacy Policy explains how Teethly ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our platform — including the community forum, educational content, dentist directory, and the private "Ask a Dentist" Q&A feature.

Different parts of Teethly have different visibility:

Dentists who join Teethly to answer patient questions are expected to treat everything they read — including your name, your question, and any details you share — as confidential, consistent with the professional and ethical obligations they hold as licensed dental providers.
That said, Teethly is a platform that connects patients with dentists for general informational purposes — it is not a substitute for the privacy protections of an in-person dental practice, and no formal dentist-patient relationship is created through the platform (see our Terms of Service for details).
We want to be transparent about this rather than make blanket compliance claims.
The information you share through "Ask a Dentist" may be considered sensitive health information. We take reasonable steps to keep this information private and secure, as described throughout this policy.
Regardless of which specific regulatory framework applies, we apply the security and confidentiality practices described in this policy to all health-related information shared on the platform, and we encourage you not to share information you would consider highly sensitive (such as full medical record numbers, insurance ID numbers, or government ID numbers) through the platform.
No system can guarantee perfect security. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your information, we will notify affected users in accordance with applicable law.
We retain your information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the platform's features (for example, keeping a record of past "Ask a Dentist" conversations so you can refer back to them).
If you delete your account, we will remove or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable time, except where we are required to retain certain records for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

We use trusted third-party service providers to help operate Teethly, including for hosting, database/authentication infrastructure, and deployment. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect the safety of users, or in connection with a business transfer (such as a merger or acquisition), in which case we would notify users.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy laws (such as the right to know what data is collected about you, or to request a copy of it). Contact us to make such a request.
Teethly is intended for adults aged 18 and older. Our Terms of Service require users to be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the platform. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it promptly.
We chose this age limit because the platform involves health-related guidance from licensed dental professionals, and we want all users to be adults who can independently consent to receiving such information.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, particularly as we complete our legal review of how health privacy regulations apply to the platform. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made, and significant changes will be communicated through the platform.
